Dehydration

Revelations 22:1-2

1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

Have you ever been told that you need to drink water?

Some theories say we need to drink at least 8-8oz of water a day, some say ½ our body weight, and others say our body weight. That sure seems like a lot. We are told water is healthy for our bodies. Water helps keep muscles healthy, aids in improving digestion, helps in weight loss, improves skin complexion, helps boost immune system, helps relieve fatigue, and helps flush out toxins.

Not drinking enough water can cause tiredness, dry mouth, skin, and eyes; stinking breath and body odor, frequent muscle pain and joint stiffness, headaches, constipation, weight gain and weaken the immune system. But did you know that not drinking water affects your brain in ways you might not have realized.

Your brain is an organ, just like the kidneys, liver, heart but it takes up the most energy of any organ. It is also 75% water. That means it needs a lot of water to keep on working.

It takes the brain less than 4 hours to become dehydrated and mild symptoms can appear

What happens is brain cells start to shrink in size and mass causing brain fog or lack of mental clarity.  Research has linked dehydration to depression and anxiety, because mental health is driven primarily by your brain's activity. Long story short, dehydration causes brain functioning to slow down and not function properly. It is important to think of water as a nutrient your brain needs. There are some things we drink that are natural dehydrators… Drinks containing high amounts of alcohol, caffeine, and sugar are most likely to perform as diuretics in the body and promote dehydration. Especially if you  not take care to balance them with adequate hydration from other sources.

It is best to drink water, but everyone has different needs based on activity leaves, size, weight etc so you do not necessarily have to set a rigid goal. The best thing to do is keep yourself hydrated through the day. There’s no better way than taking small sips of water every hour. That way you don’t get tired, but don’t gorge yourself on water either.

Doing this will harmonize your body from the inside out.  Your brain will work harder and faster.

You might not realize it, but your brain does. You lose your ability to focus because your brain is conserving its resources. Your memory slows down. It becomes more difficult to concentrate and you can’t react as quickly to stimuli.

Water helps to balance your mood and emotions, helps you to sleep better, improves memory, and helps you to sleep better at night.

It really does not take long to drink 8oz of water… we will demonstrate… look how little time that took... but what an amazing benefit!

Water—it is fluid, transparent, and refreshing

The Word of God is the same… fluid, transparent, refreshing.

We all need to be hydrated by the Word of God….each of us are unique in our needs and having a rigid plan does not always work.  The Word is the “water” our souls and spirits need to stay harmonized in our relationship with Christ.  It also does not take too much time to stay hydrated in God with such amazing benefits.

Isaiah 44:3

For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
